The project featured exposed glulam beams (Glu Lams) used throughout the structure to support each floor and serve as a prominent architectural element within the building.
During construction, the glulam beams were exposed to moisture, resulting in visible water staining across the wood surfaces. Because the beams were intentionally left exposed as a finished interior feature, conventional sanding or aggressive cleaning methods were not an option. The goal was to remove the staining while preserving the smooth finish, colour consistency, and structural integrity of the wood.

Ocean Pacific Media Blasting used a controlled, low-impact media blasting process specifically suited for architectural wood restoration. The blasting parameters were carefully selected to lift water staining and surface discoloration without raising the grain, damaging the wood fibres, or altering the appearance of the beams.
This approach allowed the staining to be removed evenly across all affected glulam surfaces while maintaining the clean, uniform finish required for an exposed interior application.
