Ocean Pacific Media Blasting was hired to address exterior water intrusion issues at the Willow Wind Feed Store in Langford, British Columbia.
The building was experiencing moisture penetration through its cinder block walls, which caused the failure of an existing red Amerilastic coating on the exterior surfaces.
The deteriorated coating was no longer performing as intended, trapping moisture and allowing water to migrate through the masonry. In order to properly resolve the issue, all failed paint and coating needed to be completely removed so the underlying block could be assessed and prepared for corrective treatment.

Ocean Pacific Media Blasting used a controlled sandblasting process to remove the failed Amerilastic coating from the exterior cinder block walls. The blasting method was selected to strip the coating thoroughly without damaging the masonry substrate beneath.
By removing the coating down to clean, bare block, the surface was properly prepared for drying, inspection, and future waterproofing or sealing solutions.
This project highlights the importance of proper surface preparation when addressing water damage and coating failure on masonry buildings.
